Even if a bunch of named characters die now that the alliance has arrived (and I doubt this), it will be too late to save the rest of this arc. Seriously, Tsunade split in half was the most jarring part of the entire war, and it's not quite clear if she's even going to die. The Juubi is what I expected, but that's another problem: this whole war has been too predictable, and since Kishi doesn't seem to want to kill anybody off, there's little to compare it with Marineford. As for Obito, I think his flashback had better scenes than the present, especially since the fight he should have had with Kakashi was ended too hastily. The Naruto war had fights of LESSER caliber than previous arcs, and while Edo-Madara is a cool villain, he only has a mixture of powers we have already seen and doesn't bring a whole lot of epicness to the table. Rather than center around one big plot twist (Tobi not being Madara), it featured multiple little twists and emotional moments that seemed to bring the whole pirate world together: Ace and Whitebeard dying, Kuma revealed as becoming fully robotic, the Marines cutting off transmission to the rest of the world (solidifying their corruption), Blackbeard coming in at the end to steal the spotlight, and Doflamingo just laughing at everything in the background. It shook up the normal pace of One Piece (normally lengthy one-on-one fights) and made me want to find out so much more at its conclusion.
The fact that I read all of the Marineford arc in one sitting but have been reading the 4th Shinobi World War in weekly segments might affect my opinion, but I think Marineford wins hands down.
